If you spend a little time searching, you can find flights which aren't that expensive! The very first one I found (without any knowledge of the area or idea where it's cheap) the flight was over 600€. When I searched a bit, tried more flexible options, I found one for about 230€, which is quite affordable :)

Depends completely on what you want to see. And weather conditions can change quite quickly, so there's no possibility to be sure of anything when visiting the Lofoten islands :)

Beautiful photo - congrats on all your awards. Where is Norway was this taken? I've seen this shot from other photographers so it must be popular Thanks KM

The title basically says it all, Hamnøy (Lofoten islands) :) There's a bridge which you have to cross when you follow the main road, and from that bridge are all these shots taken you have seen from other photographers too.

Location
This photo was taken on Lofoten islands in north norway.Time
While we were mainly visiting to photograph the northern lights during night time, we tried to use the few hours (5 to be exact) of daylight we had to take a few "normal" photos. I don't even remember at what time this was taken exactly, but it has to be somewhere inbetween 10 am and 15 am :)Lighting
The lighting was quite uninteresting here because of the low hanging clouds, but that didn't mean the water could have a nice colour and give great contrast to the rest of the scene.Equipment
My 3 year old Canon 5D MIII, 16-35 which is basically my everyday lens, a tripod and an ND filter to force the long exposure timesInspiration
The Lofoten islands are full of two things: Mountains and small fishermans houses. This photo captures the essence of this perfectly, there's really nothing else that comes close.Editing
Unfortunately there were other people taking pictures and they parked their car right in the middle of the scene. Just behind the fence between the first two houses, I had to remove their car in Photoshop. The rest was pretty standard - contrast, colour correction, and square-crop.In my camera bag
As I already mentioned, my 16-35 is my everyday lens, so I always have that one with me. My main and only body is the 5D MIII, nothing really special about that. Then, I don't really have a standard-zoom lens, I just have a 50 f1.4 and then the 70-200 f4. These are all the lenses I need, and in addition I then often use ND filters and of course a tripod. Without those many pictures could just not be possible.Feedback
Well, as advice I'm telling you sth that has nothing to do with photography. If you want to see a specific part of the world (for me it was this kind of landscape during winter), just take the time to figure out how you can make it happen. At first I thought it would be to expensive, but after a bit of research I found cheap flights, a cheap airbnb house and a standard-priced car to rent. All in all these 5 days I was on Lofoten islands were simply amazing for the money I invested (around 700€ in total). Instead of buying the version III L IS USM super extreme plus of some lens you sometimes need, use that money to travel! Collect experiences, not things.
