This was actually taken on my kitchen counter in natural light.Time
Afternoon.Lighting
That kitchen, I've long since moved a few times, had very interesting light in the afternoon in the spring. There was a vase of tulips and highly focused late after noon light came streaming in. All natural light on this one.Equipment
Hand held D2x (its been a minute since I took this one!)Inspiration
Just the moment and the light were a revelation so I ran for my camera. I think there was about 8 minutes to work with this light.Editing
Nothing more than contrast and color balance. In my camera bag
When this was taken, I would roll with a D2x, a nikon prime 50 1.8, a nikon 35-135 with macro, a 17-35 2.8, and a SB 28. Since my gear has upgraded.Feedback
I'd suggest using strobes/flashes to try and recreate that. The natural light that happened that day was odd and spectacular. So, I guess, watch the light around you and grab the camera when its cool!
