Behind The Lens

Location

I was at a hot air ballon festival outside Charlotte Nc.

Time

Morning during the fall.

Lighting

All natural light.

Equipment

Nikon D2x handheld with a 70-200 2.8 VR lens.

Inspiration

We've all seen the wonderful photos of hot air ballons in the distance. This was more about perspective and focusing on form.

Editing

Just color correction.

In my camera bag

These days I travel light, my Nikon d850 with an old trusty 17-35 2.8, my prime 50 1.8 because that thing is a work horse. Depending on the outing, my 70-200 2.8 or my SB-800 if i'm focusing on portraits. Beyond my camera gear, usually a Swiss army knife and a small first aid kit. I pack for the day, lots of rotation in my gear.

Feedback

When you're shooting something that seems pretty standard, you're gonna take the shots that are the "postcard" but also look at what draws your eye and take some risks on framing. Be patient, and don't be afraid to have a bunch of files you delete cause they aren't it.
