Still Life Candles & Shadows

With the availability of three different shaped candle sticks and three different colored candles this still life photo opportunity came to life. It was fun controlling the light and shadows and as you can see there is a lot of shadows, reflections, and tonality of light illuminating the backdrop etc. The shadows of the candles are almost perfectly aligned-spaced and straight in this photo, and that was the result of numerous shots to purposefully achieve this effect. I love the way the red candle (on the left) appears in the shadow sequence as the middle shadow, all of these subtle differences make this my most interesting still life thus far.
The candles of this still life photo could have lots of meanings. These suggest to me the passing of time and the colors (red, white, green) of many national flags. The burning candles could also represent the triune God and-or the light of Christ, purification and cleansing. The three candle shadows with flames could represent death, the loss of virginity, and the corruption of matter.
