Location:
At the roots of the Dyngjufjöll mountains, in the center of the Icelandic highland, amongst the pumice, tuff, palagonite and basalt. The location is Dreki, a stop on my way to Askja, the caldera, where I take my guests on my super-jeep daytours. The road to it is a rough gravel path, not recommended unless you have a super-jeep, modified for Icelandic conditions.
Time:
12:17 July 29th, 2015, Amazing day
Lighting:
The rain was approaching, it usually starts to rain there about 13:00 in July.
Equipment:
Nikon D5300, 18-55mm f-3.5-5.6G VR II lens.
Inspiration:
This area is called Ódáðahraun, and this whole area brings me to live.
Editing:
I don't quite remember, ..I've sharpened it, it was a hand held shot, and some clarity in selected places and some other. Yes I did something to the clouds. Could have spent more time on it, there is noise in the sky. I somehow like to have the noise instead of blurred smoothed out sky.
In my camera bag:
My worn-out bag includes Nikon D5300, two extra batteries, Rokinon 14mm f-2.8 IF ED UMC lens, AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f-3.5-5.6G VR II lens, AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor ED 55-200mm F4-5.6G lens, remote shutter, lens cleaning cloths and chocolate. Chocolate is the most essential thing to carry when driving the center highland of Iceland. Of course food, water and other survival essentials are needed, but standing in a great landscape, waiting for the right lighting calls for good Icelandic chocolate.
Ps.
I would advise anyone that want to capture this area to contact a local that will get you there. For example myself, I live in the area and I have a super-jeep. See www.kip.is for more information.
