Draft horse pulls a hand-forged carriage and plow through the sloped gravel vineyards of Chateau Pontet-Canet, Pauillac - Bordeaux Left Bank. While it takes years of training and patience to deploy horse-drawn plowing in the vineyards, the benefits are significant -- large tractors will compress the soil; the forged plow has a special attachment that gently tills the soil directly along the row; and vineyard harmony is improved.
