An ice storm hit the Hill Country in march, covering the bare trees overnight. I was out on a commercial real estate shoot for a ranch, and by the afternoon, everything began to thaw in the strong sunlight. You could hear the ice cracking and icicles dripping. I shot almost directly the sun to back-light the crystals, create the strong shadow of the tree trunks and branches shrouded in ice, and accentuate the depth. Image was pushed in post for additional contrast and definition. Shot with Nikkor 24-120mm at 120mm, F-4.
