This is the shore area where I live. It has been 3 years photographing the view and elements here. How amazing that in one area of nature, and through the seasons including our own perspectives, can give back so much story depth in being. This was my most difficult shot as I had to climb through the shore's thicket, rocks and rising tide, position myself to catch the reflection without my own...crouching in a most awkward way...it was exciting to see after the effort, as simple as it is.

I love the way it looks like a mountian with trees but then you realize it's under water and it's a body of water.

Thank you for joining my "Minds Eye" challenge, always hard to choose but your image really hit the mark! Excellent!

Location
This photo was taken just above high tide on the shoreline of Saanich Inlet, Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. It was where I lived for 4 years and most mornings would walk down to the beach to photograph.Time
The morning light always calls to me...just to be with the dawn whether it's another sunrise or storm there are always subtle changes to wait for.Lighting
I could see by the early morning reflection on the water, the colours, the sky and the rocks surfacing through the high tide that it was worth navigating to find this photo.Equipment
I used the FinePix X100, hand held as there was no other way to enter into this location.Inspiration
This emerging rock image that I have known for sometime was revealing itself and I could see from the shore a tip' reflection of the tree/s above. I crawled through a messy thicket of downward branches and driftwood imploding on the bank of creviced rocks to position myself. I squatted to avoid any reflection of my person and captured the reflection of the tree...hence "Angel Above Tree".Editing
I use Photoshop. I don't always remember my editing process but w/ an early morning shot I would have adjusted the light, levels and subtlety of colour. Process for me, is more intuitive. I watch the changes in an image's editing process on the page like I witness the panoramic view by the ocean to the reflections and ripples on the water. It's creative and enchanting. In my camera bag
No equipment bag for me. It's a handheld camera (FinePix X100) an extra set of eyeglasses and lens cleaning cloth. The simpler the better and light of foot.Feedback
I enjoy taking photographs. I am an amateur whose adventures are not epic. My advise to begin with is to visit and revisit what is near, what you know and deepen on that. Finding beauty, an interest in the juxtaposition for example of everyday scenarios, what is accessible to explore and learn over time simplifies and encourages what one can learn w/ a camera in hand...plus the added loveliness of being where you are...enjoy.
