Location
This photo was taken from the ferry crossing Baynes sound, the strait between Denman Island and Vancouver Island.Time

Commuting islands at sunrise is a wonderful part of the day. I have lived near half my life on islands and in spite of the expense of travelling by ferry to do major shopping etc, it is the light of the sun rising, the mist, fogs, clouds that takes ones breath away. This morning we all ran to the back of the ferry as the sky turned to fire and witnessed an incredible sight.Equipment
I had a Canon G12 with me and used ferry structure as my support muffling the vibration with my arm.Inspiration
Beauty, being there, and an accessible camera inspired this photo. This is why I prefer travelling with a compact camera. One is prepared to catch a fleeting moment.Editing
The only post processing I did was to bring out the horizon land details and low fog rolling in like a cloud. I used layers and the dodge tool in photoshop. In my camera bag

Have fun and travel light when you are not out vying for the epic photo and let yourself be surprised with the day's unfolding events. It helps to be able with post-processing like photoshop. With a camera that has raw capabilities one can see more in the digital darkroom than the camera's viewfinder and settings alone. My eyesight suffers from both near and far sightedness and though glasses help, seeing close up into the photo, tweaking the depths of an image is also creatively inspiring as was the moment the shot was taken.
