Behind The Lens
Location
Taken in Ladysmith, WI on the Flambeau River. I was on the way to see my housebound friend, and there was a bench set up by the river here that was an invitation to stop and sit a spell before traveling on, so I accepted the invitation.Time
It was a cool fall morning so there was a mist coming off the river, and the sun had just come over the treetops. Perfect timing on mother nature's part.Lighting
Mother Nature was nice enough to cooperate and supply me just what I needed.Equipment
Canon 60D with a Canon 16-35 L lens with a polarizing filter and a tripod. I was almost standing in the river for this shot.Inspiration
The cool morning mist coming off the water and the great fall colors were too inviting to resist.Editing
I just brightened up the colors a little bit but otherwise not a lot of post processing done.In my camera bag
I am mostly a wildlife photographer, so I use my Canon 400L 5.6 lens the most, but always keep my 16-35mm L series lens on hand for that occasional landscape shot that I just can't resist.Feedback
The only advice for capturing fall colors is being there on the right day (or stopping every day until they are at their peak). I stopped just 7 days later at the same spot and there had been a lot of wind the day before and 50% of the leaves were gone. A completely different scene was present due to this.
