This is a great shot. I'm so impressed you have a blind on your land that allows you to capture images like this!

This is an awesome shot, I tried for many years to achieve a similar image while attending the Eagle watch at Sheffield Mills in Nova Scotia but never came anywhere close to this.... Fabulous

Location
This picture was taken from the wonderful blind my husband built for me out in our cow pasture. It is special because it was taken at my home. We have an active eagle nest just a short distance from our home, but these were not "our eagles". But I do get to eagle watch almost every day due to the presence of the nest.Time
Early morning but my camera clock was off so I am not sure exactly when in the morning. Of course, the best shooting and action seems to occur in the morning and late afternoon hours with all wildlife.Lighting
Winter lighting is needed from this blind to get good pictures, so I get to sit in the cold a lot and watch the visitors to my pastures and woods.Equipment
Canon 60D with a Sigma 150-500 lensInspiration
I love shooting eagles, and I bring home road kill to our pasture to draw them in. They are so intelligent and smart that it is very hard to get close enough to get good pictures. In this picture I was shooting the younger eagle sitting on the ground when suddenly the older eagle swooped in and scared us both. I accidentally jerked the camera up and caught the action. After he was scolded (I think the adult eagle was his mother) he sat there and cried like a baby for several minutes before he got over it and flew off on his or her own.Editing
Simple cropping and color adjustment. In my camera bag
More than what I have in my bag is the work we do to create an environment to draw in wildlife. I have no time to travel so we do our best to draw the wildlife to our farm. It is a year around occupation.Feedback
A good blind, lots of patience, some luck, and persistence are the main factors that enter into this picture. Lots of time involved with very rare success, but it is worth it. Lots of time spent observing to better learn how to anticipate the animals next move so I can be ready for it.
