So true! It's so accessible and photogenic you'd swear they literally built this city up for self advertisement. If that's the case - it's totally genius.

Location
This photo was taken next to the Helix Bridge in Singapore's Marina Bay.Time
Shortly after sunset, the Marina Bay Sands hotel and casino lights up with a dazzling laser display.Lighting
Even in bad weather, the laser show will give some dramatic effects. I have adjusted the white balance to reduce the effect of city lights on the scene. You see an electric blue which is how I remember it in my mind's eye. The raw image had more of an orange/tungsten hue.Equipment
Nikon D810, my Manfrotto Befree tripod and shutter release for long exposuresInspiration
I had a three day stopover in Singapore and wanted to capture for myself one of the defining, iconic views of the marina. Some of my favourite travel photographers have captured a similar scene; I wanted to put my own spin on it.Editing
I use Adobe Lightroom for basic correction, followed by Photoshop to clone out any unwelcome distractions (people, birds), and finally Nik Color Efex to add some pop back to the scene. In my camera bag
I only use my Nikon D810 for travel photography. I often only have one chance to get the shot I want, so I have to use the best equipment. My wide angle 16-35mm Nikkor lens is rarely off my camera body, but when it is, I use the following: a 28-300mm Nikkor zoom for wildlife and distant shots, Venus Optics Laowa 12mm prime for astrophotographym interior photography or extreme wide angle, and a nifty fifty for portrait photography. I always carry a clamp with me and I'll have a selection of tripods that I choose from depending on what I'm doing that day. The Manfrotto Befree is lightweight and often with me, but if tripods aren't allowed I'll settle for a tabletop tripod.Feedback
Get there early! This is an inconic view of Singapore and there is only so much railing you can lean on / clamp to!
