I wanted to practice Rembrandt lighting and I knew that I wanted the image to be a portrait. I really wanted to make this picture look like an old painting from the 1800's. I was able to capture Rembrandt lighting on the boys face however the woman's face ended up with a more loop lighting effect. Both flattering for each person. Love the raw skin on skin look to leave the focus more on the features and expression of the faces; even the little hand gently against the woman. Used one light source (softbox).
