I took this photo in my living room actually, with sheets hung up all over the walls and windows! This was seconds before he started crying, and just seconds after the picture, he started crying again!!Time
This was the exact time of day he wanted to be napping. Probably around 4PM. Much of this photoshoot was comforting and playing with him, which is fun when they are only 9 days old!Lighting
Lighting is hard. Especially in an apartment. I was fairly confident i had the lighting i needed, but within moments of doing some test shots, i had the mother, father, and my wife moving lamps all over the place and holding white cardboard!Equipment
I used a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, with the stock lens EF-S18-55mm, F3.5-5.6 IS II. Being a very standard and beginner DSLR, i was very pleased with how these images turned out.Inspiration
After a few hours of him struggling, i wanted to find a way to capture the expression of being exhausted/frustrated. Being 9 days old, expressions were not very present.Editing
For the main subject, i didn't do much post processing besides removing some flaws, and smoothing the skin. Other wise, i smoothed the background entirely from the black blanket so you can't see any of the wrinkles. In my camera bag
In my bag i don't normally have a lot. Granted i don't have a ton of equipment to start! I have my camera body, my 18-55lens, my 50-200 lens, and my fixed 50mm lens.Feedback
The best advice i can give you to get a shot similar, would be to make sure the baby has had a nap. If that means being at the photoshoot a few hours early, just to play with the baby and tucker him out, it would be significantly helpful!
