This picture was taken from the walls surrounding old Murten, a beautiful medieval town in Switzerland, locate on a scenic lake with the same name. A biker was passing just in that moment, adding the right atmosphere to a photo otherwise not very original. I could not thank this unknown biker, but I owe him a lot for this image that I particularly like. This town was already mentioned in 515 AD under the name Moritum, but a new city was founded in 1170. Today, Murten is the capital of the See-Lac District of the canton of Fribourg, and a place rich in history. It is one of the municipalities with a large majority (about 75%) of German speakers in the predominantly French-speaking Canton of Fribourg. Tourism is one of the highlights of this town that has implemented strict regulations for buildings and heritage protection. The old walls which still surround the entire city, reflecting the frequent conflicts in the history of the region.
