A Galapagos Pelican. You see them all around the Gulf of Mexico and Florida. Beautiful bird in my opinion! Nice shot!

Your pelicans are so different to ours here in Australia, it's fascinating! Great shot.

Location
I took this shot on my first trip to Port Aransas, TX. I was VERY new into photography. I'd recently gotten a little point and shoot Canon camera, and I was so excited to record my favorite moments from our first trip to the Texas coast. Little did I know that this camera would spark a love of photography in me!Time
It was in the mid-afternoon, probably around 3:00. We had just taken the ferry over to the island, and we stopped in at the look-out points to see if we could see any dolphins. (And we did!)Lighting
I remember it was a beautiful, sunny day. There weren't many clouds in the sky, and the salty sea breeze was light. It was the epitome of a perfect trip to the beach!Equipment
I used my little Canon Powershot. At the time, it was all that I had.Inspiration
As I mentioned earlier, I was stopped to see if I could see dolphins. They were splashing and playing in the wakes of the ferries, and being the first time I'd ever seen them in the wild, I was fascinated. Then I walked along the large rocks by the shoreline, listening to the seagulls laughing overhead. Every so often I'd come across a fisherman, and wherever he or she was, the pelicans were also close by. I'd just passed a fisher when I took this photo. At the time, I was still watching the water for signs of dolphins. This beautiful pelican landed right in front of me, begging for fish! I took his picture while he waited to see if I had a snack. Then, when he realized I wasn't fishing, he waddled down to the man I'd just passed. I don't know if he got a bite to eat, but I getting to see him up close and personal!Editing
I did some cropping and minimal color enhancement. At the time, I knew very little about post processing. In my camera bag
Since taking this shot, my camera bag has grown. I have a Canon Rebel t6i and a Canon Rebel 5. I also have two Tamron lenses: an SP150 - 600 mm and a 70 - 300 mm. The Powershot was a great camera to begin my photographer's journey, but I love the DSLR cameras and lenses!Feedback
Be prepared! I was so glad that I had not left my camera in the car when this encounter with the Pelican occurred! I could have easily missed the shot if I hadn't been ready.
