Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo at a local athletics club, where I had to gain access to via the talent, being a the athletics club I had to try and work among people training and working out.Time
To create this photo I used the afternoon sun so around 5pm so that it was almost set.Lighting
The lighting I used was quiet simple with using the sun behind the head of the talent to give the glow as well as the shadow and then used a fill flash to light up the body of the athlete.Equipment
I used a 5dmk3 with a canon 28-70 2.8 lens with a 580exmk2 speedlight.Inspiration
I had a inspirational from a few different photographers and wanted to capture an imaging which was striking as well as captured something that the athlete would do day in day out on the track.Editing
For most of my work I do very little post-production work where I just adjust the levels and curves however with this image I took out some of the leaves on the ground to give it a cleaner look.In my camera bag
So my bag keeps getting bigger and I have updated since this photo has been taken. My first lens in which I place in my bag is my 400 2.8! Yes I know why this lens! Because I am a sports shooter so I use it for this for nearly every time I take out my kit, And yes you can also take some amazing portraits with this lens. Other than that I have 2 x 1D bodies, 70-200 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 28-70 2.8, 17-40 4.0, 2x conventer, 3 speedlights, remote triggers for my camera as well the speedlights, rain covers for 2 cameras. spare batteries as well as my laptop to edit on the go.Feedback
If you are looking to create something similar to this image my advice would be to look for different angles and don't be afraid to get down and dirty. Although I didn't use it for this image but learn how to use your flash of camera as it changes your photos dramatically
