Airplane flies into the last sunset of 2013 in NYC. I have never seen the sun so huge over the city. What a moment!
It wasn't very dark out thankfully, so I could handhold this shot with a low ISO, which is great, since the sun was only visible like this for about 60 seconds and quickly disappeared over the horizon. I was very lucky to glance up at just the right time to see this crazy phenomenon and grab my camera in time. And then a plane passed by so I timed it for the plane to be centered on the sun, snapping a few shots to be sure I didn't miss it. I didn't have much time for settings so I took a wild guess and lowered the aperture as much as I dared to get a bit of depth and get a fast enough shot for the diminished light.
Canon EOS 60D
f-12, 1-320 sec., ISO 320, 300mm.
Lens:
Canon EF 70-300mm f-4-5.6L IS
