Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the beach at Assateague National Seashore.

Time

It was around mid day when the photo was taken.

Lighting

I took the photo facing away from the sun so the horses where lit by the sun.

Equipment

I took this picture with my Nikon D5300 camera with a 18-300mm lens.

Inspiration

I love horses and was out looking for the new baby everyone said was around. It took awhile to look them. The photo shows the baby close to its mother.

Editing

I used lightroom to adjust the RAW image and did a little lightning of the photo, as well as some cropping.

In my camera bag

I normally have my Nikon D5300 or now the D750 with several size lens to choose from. I have the 18-33mm Tamron, a 10-24mm Sigma, a 24-120mm Nikon (full frame), a nikon 85mm and 35mm prime lens, and the 150-600mm Tamron lens.

Feedback

When taking photos of wild horses you first want to stay as far away as you can to avoid being injured, but close enough to get that one great photo. Always remember to work your composition out so that you have the best background. When taking photos outdoors try to keep the sun to your back which can help to light your subject.
