This is my mother's sitting room, in the house she shares with my father, the younger of my two brothers, a Chinese exchange student, and an orphaned friend of my bother's whom my parents have taken in. It tells the tale of a couple who see the world as their oyster and who know how to go out and see it on a reasonable budget. The two vases on the table come from Turkey, a number of the books were brought with my father when he came to the U.S. from Argentina, and the masks come from all kinds of places, and even if they come from nearby, they are reminiscent of those found in places far away.
