A good portion of my time in Paris in October 2014 consisted of cold, cloudy weather, though the days were usually clear, in the sense that visibility was good even if the sky was concealed by a blanket of clouds. This one particular morning, perhaps halfway or a little more than halfway through my stay, dawned cold and misty and gray. The sight of the magnificent Notre Dame emerging like a specter through the mist gave me chills...though the cold might also have had something to do with that.
