Aside from the great composition with the framing and whatnot (which is really really good), I love that we can see the waterfall as actual falling water and not just some over-exposed image where the waterfall looks like a stick of white ... if you know what I mean. Good job. I like it.

Location
This is Seljalandsfoss, one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland. It is located in the South Region in Iceland right by Route 1 at the junction with the road that leads to Þórsmörk Road 249. The waterfall is one of the most popular waterfalls and natural wonders in Iceland. The waterfall drops 60 meters and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull. One of the interesting things about this waterfall is that visitors can walk behind it into a small cave.Time
If I remember rightly this was taken about mid morning on a week day in May. There is only a fairly small car park and being out of the real tourist season there were only about a dozen people there. I had been wanting to capture this amazing waterfall for some time and had planned the shot in my head. Waterproofs are essential as the spray is very wet. I went with a 15mm lens on my Canon 5Dmk3 so I could get as much of the cavern in the frame as possible. With the camera on a tripod I quickly removed the lens cap and took a couple of shots before the lens element got too wet.Lighting
This was shot with ambient light and I was fortunate in that the sunlight reflected up into the cave and illuminated it beautifully.Equipment

We planned to do a photographic holiday in Iceland a picked out a number of images we wanted to capture. Surfing Flickr and 500pix we found some amazing images and just knew we had to include this waterfall in our itinery.Editing
Post processed in Lightroom only to tidy the image and balance the lighting. I wanted to give the finished image an almost painting feel with the colours and I'm pleased with the finished effect.In my camera bag

You need sturdy boots as the ground is very uneven and slippery. Good waterproofs I used a tripod but it is not essential. I also used a light meter to get a reading before going into the waterfall so my camera was preset with shutter speed and aperture in manual mode. As I had a 15mm lens I know the depth of field would be fine and I set my lens to 5m in manual focus. This allowed me to be quick and limit the amount of spray on the camera and lens.
