Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in an animal park in the city of Itatiba, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil on 20 November 2015. Photography is for me a serious hobby and understand, learning in this area is a constant. When I took this photo, I was in the company of my daughter, Bruna, who came to get very close to this bird as it proved to be quite docile and not afraid of it.

Time

The city of Itatiba is close to where I live. This park is actually a mini zoo. We had just finished lunch and then we walk through the park to see the animals. This bird and others are inside a large cage, where people can join. The cage has two doors, like a lock when one is open the other must necessarily be closed. Thus, the birds are accustomed to bringing people together.

Lighting

The light that time, despite being around noon, was rather subdued because of the trees. The place has many trees, difrerentes species to represent a bit of the environment of each species of animal. By the time I took this picture, this bird was on top of a small fence, half a meter from my daughter. I ended up taking a picture of it with this little being green and blue.

Equipment

Just before taking this picture I had changed the lens of my camera for a half tele, ie, Canon 70-300mm, F4-5.6 L IS USM, as intended to shoot other animals that were more distant. The scene was composed through surprise and I had no time to change the lens again. So as not also led to mount the machine on the tripod and make a more accurate framing, changed only the machine ISO, a Canon EOS 5D Mark III for 3200 and ended up shooting the same hand. At that particular time I could take ten shots.

Inspiration

This series of photos was actually a moment of pure reflex. The inspiration comes from the desire to try to immortalize unique moments and to share these moments of life with others.

Editing

He did not make any post editing in the picture, because at that time I had not yet acquired a specific software for this. Bought now, there is a matter of four months only, Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Well, in my backpack I carry in addition to the body of the Canon Mark III, Canon 24-105mm lens, L series, a fixed 50mm Sigma, f1.4 DG HSM, a wide angle Sigma 12-24mm, 4.5 -5.6, DG HSM and the Canon 70-300mm, also the series L. I have the tripod Manfrotto MT055 xpro 190, 3 way. I am also filter kit Lee, containing the big stopper 10 and three, with gradual neutral density.

Feedback

Photography requires dedication, patience and constant learning. The prior planning you want to photograph is very important. Nature provides us with light, shadows and other phenomena over which we have no control. We just have to understand these times and see them as unique to at the right time, to capture that image forever.
