This photo was taken in my home town of Melbourne in Australia. it is of the Royal Exhibition Building near the City.Time
I took the shot in the late afternoon just before a storm come and the rains came, so was lucky with the timingLighting
Natural daylight was used as its outside but i wanted it to be cloudy so as not too have too many harsh shadows.Equipment
i used my Nikon D800 with a 28mm lens on my Manfrotto tripodInspiration
It was a bit of an experiment this shot, as it is a mix of infra red filtering, long exposure and also HDR, so i took 3 separate shots at different exposures, one stop difference between but had an infra red filter on the lens, which makes the green turn yellow, like the grass and flowers in the shot.Editing
The first exposure was about a half a second, then a second, then 2 seconds was used to blur the water fountain, and get a bit of movement in the clouds as it was a bit windy that day. i then combined the three images in Photoshop and did a little exposure and contrast tweaking to bring out the clouds. In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D800 Camera, Nikon 80 to 200mm lens 17-35mm Tokina lens, a Nikon 28mm and 50mmFeedback
I had the idea for this shot as i hadn't seen it done before so just thought id try and see if i could do it, So with a bit of planning and experiment's with filters and HDR you can come up with some interesting shots. Can be a bit of hit and miss, but if you don't try you won't know!!
