Location
This image was taken in Vancouver, Wa. along the Columbia River walk.I was participating in a World Wide photo walk at the time.Time
The photo walk started at 7 am so about a half hour before sunrise. Took me something like 45 min. to get to this spot shooting and looking for subjects.Lighting
This is soft morning light under a tree canopyEquipment
Shot with a Nikon D300 18-140 lens hand held.Inspiration
I really liked the soft colors and multiple textures of the leaves, the water drops were a bonus. I tend to like subjects that draw the viewer in, fist look is good composition, then I want you to explore and find other parts that make up the whole image.Editing
Just basic adjustment's exposure contrast and sharpening. In my camera bag
My bag? Well to be honest it stays home most of the time or if its lucky in the car. When I'm shooting the camera is in my hands or on my monopod. I use a PlatyPod max more then a tripod now. My lens cover the 10-300 range if I'm just out walking or driving looking for subjects I'll have one body with say 10-24 and the other with 18-300.Feedback
The one thing I find that limits and causes the most frustration is allowing yourself to lock on anyone goal as to why your there shooting. What do I mean. You travel to the coast to shoot big waves crashing on the rocks and shore, only the wind and tide just don't produce. Turn around look for other opportunities. maybe sea birds are nesting close by or the wind has blown sand off of a shell with nice color. Slow down remember your goal is to make Photos not just take photos anyone can take a snapshot. a photographer makes a photo, you control the light that is your brush. There is no shame in not pressing the shutter because nothing was worth your time, but much shame in not being there camera ready when that once in a lifetime image appears.
