Location
The photo was taken at my hometown, Bandung - Indonesia. It's a new place for people to discover more about the city, since the area was kinda "unreachable" before.Time
I remember that I woke up at around 3.30am, drank my coffee of the day and got there around 4.30am. It was a fun ride because we had to hire a motorbike and went to the top with that (through stony and steep pathways - and without a helmet because they don't provide it!).Lighting
Once we got to the top, it was still dark, but it was necessary because otherwise we wouldn't get a good spot to make pictures as people start coming and it can get very crowded. So we got the good spot and waited until it gets a bit lighter with the dawn. And that's when the fog is more visible.Equipment
This shot was taken with Canon 60D, 18-135mm lens and a tripod.Inspiration
People in town have mentioned this place a lot during the past few months. Since I live abroad, I couldn't get the opportunity to just visit it whenever I want. On my visit back to my country, I had some foreigner friends that came with me and we took the chance to go up there.Editing
Not much post-processing on this photo except for the temperature, saturation and contrast. I wanted to keep the mysterious feeling on it and thus I didn't add up clarity or anything else.In my camera bag
Friends always say that I normally bring too much anywhere I go. But for me personally, bringing my canon and at least two lenses is a must. I would bring a tripod if I know that it's necessary for the day, like this day when I took this shot, since I started shooting when it was still dark to make some long exposure ones. Flash is also something that I bring most of the time, including the triggers and a remote for the shutter.Feedback
Spot a good landscape view on places that you know and enjoy yourself there. Being a photographer, your instinct will tell you when to shoot. The best thing, in my opinion, is not to rush into making a lot of photos without having the sense of what you're trying to capture in terms of composition and the final result that you wish for. Take your time to get closer with the environment.
