Behind The Lens

Location

First of all, I really appreciate the feedback I am getting for this shot. This was a special one for me as I had waited for this one moment when the rising sun illuminates the whole horizon before you in the morning mist. I was on a hike across the Mullayangiri Hills in Chikmanglur, Karnataka, India where we camped for the night and had this amazing sunrise the very next morning.

Time

This was shot at early morning around 6 am IST. I had to wake up early around 5 to catch the rising sun and mist and was lucky to have got the desired hideout to get the shot.

Lighting

Although the camera settings are really important, for this particular shot, I would really credit the mother nature as the golden hour light was so perfect, you just had to press the shutter with the right frame. Here, I intentionally shot a standing landscape to reflect the scale of the infinite sky above the mountains we just hiked.

Equipment

My regular Nikon D5100 with 18-55 kit lens did the trick here.

Inspiration

I would like to believe that I have a thing for travel, exploring new places and capturing the beauty of nature forever. That is the fundamental feeling that inspires me every holiday to go out and shoot. I prefer to keep it simple and get at least a single photograph worth sharing on each of my trips.

Editing

Not really but I think I did tune the shadows down a bit to get the colors to the foreground.

In my camera bag

I normally carry a Lowepro Traveler 150 with my Nikon D5100 with kit lens and a 50 mm 1.8 portrait lens. Since, I am on the learning curve and yet to fully realise my camera potential, I am content with this. I would certainly like to own a Nikon 14 mm ultra-wide angle lens some day.

Feedback

Practice. Practice and Practice is almost always the case. I am no expert but waking up early and setting up the camera before the moment actually would do wonders. Just get out there and shoot !!!
