Location
This photo was taken in 20`5 while on Safari in the Serengeti, northern Tanzania. Looking west at a nearby storm, around sunset...Time
In October Serengeti sunsets are not far from 6 PM local time.Lighting
The lighting is natural, although I added vibrance and clarity in post-processing.Equipment
I used a Sony A7R M2 with a Sony 70-400 mm A lens mounted with an LAE3 adapter. This shot was taken at f11 and 75 mm, 1/500 second, handheld.Inspiration
Easy to grab the camera and shoot this wonderful scene with the dark trees in the foregroundEditing
Lightroom and Photoshop were used to increase clarity and vibrance. I also lightened the dark clouds to increase the drama of the scene. In my camera bag
For safaris I bring the 70-400mm lens, a Tamron 150-600mm lens, the outstanding Sony FE G 90 mm f2.8 MACRO lens, the Sony Zeiss f1.8 55 mm lens, and,as of this year's safari, the new Sony GM f2.8 24-70 mm lens. I am now waiting for the 70-200mm Sony GM lens and its dedicated 2x teleconverter.Feedback
Use a very high dynamic range camera like the Sony A7R to keep all of the features without using HDR methods. If you are interested in my photography check out my website georgelevyphotography.com
