Location
Taken in Vestfold Norway, at "Gjennestadvannet" a lot of birds here, this Swan lives here all seson and is the bossTime
Early in the evening around 17 a clock in the summertimeLighting
Natural lightning with reflection on the water so have to have fast settings, but not to strong light, important when the swan is white.Equipment
Used my Nikon D800E with a Nikkor 70-200 mm 2.8 lens, on freehand no flash and 3D on the setting for position the focusInspiration
Swan is one of my birds that always challenge me to take new photos, and the light was not to hard. Love that the swan show off i am the boss.Editing
Use Lightroom to get the raw into a JPG crop the picture, used camera profile : used some smale adjusment to vibrance used no adjustment to the lighning needed. Try to keep the natural look. This can take about 2 min (from choosing this to it is finish). when i got a nice picture to start from. Adding Keywords and the camara was equiped with external GPS so it is nice when i it on the map.In my camera bag
Bag Lowepro backpack with place to 2 camera houses. One Nikon D800E , Lences: Nikor 24-70 mm 2,8, Nikor 50 mm 1,8, ,Nikor 105 mm 2,8, Nikor 70-200 mm 2,8 lencepen, memorycards, spare battery. flash speedlight 910, Nikon GP-A1 GPSFeedback
Try to learn about the animal/bird how it is natural do different stuff and look for change in behavior, then you can get good shoots, try to be on the same spot, do not start to change equipment or get it on a tripod, focus only on the subject, have the camera on fast shooting if possible and keep the focus on the subject, and you must wait, and wait and wait, then shoot as long as thing happen, do not stop to check the camera for pictures, just capture new shoots while the subject is in focus, you can get a fantastic shot just by the subject turning a little and get different light/shadow and that can be what makes the picture, if you love birds like me , enjoy som local club if possible and learn, you might find new spots to take and to know more about the subject.
