Behind The Lens

Location

Highlands NC

Time

Midday

Lighting

I had been to this place on three different days at different times. Morning, Evening, and then Noon. I love to see how the natural light affects all the elements of making the shot.

Equipment

I used a Benro tripod model FTA28C with a V1E ball head for stability. Shot with a Canon 5D MKII and a Canon Lens 70-200. 1/400 Exposure F stop 5.6.

Inspiration

I had been looking for fall colors and a body of water to be able to get the reflection.

Editing

I use Photoshop CS6 for any edits that I may have to do. This shot is as close to perfect as any I've shot.

In my camera bag

I carry two camera bodies normally a Canon 5D MKII and a Canon 1DX. My lens go from an 18mm up to my 600mm. I also carry Canon Strobes for fill light if needed. I use wired and wireless remotes to minimize camera shake.

Feedback

Plan ahead, observe the way the light plays with the scene at different times of the day. Have the right tools (tripod) first and foremost. Full frame camera hold a lot more information than crop sensor but they do a good job too.
