I love the feel of this old car that continues to maintain it's elegance despite it's age and rust. A beautifully composed shot! I'm jealous!

Location
The image was taken along Route 66 between the Petrified Forrest and the Painted Desert in Arizona.Time
I was mid day around 1-2 pm Sept.12, 2015, I remember passing by seeing the old car sitting there and telling my husband to turnaround. As we got out of the car I noticed how the clouds looked in the sky and just knew I had to find a way to capture the car along with the sky. I took several different shots from several different angles (about 30 total), before I captured this view.Lighting
Because of the clouds and the angle of the sun the sky had very harsh light to it from different angles.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon T3i, handheld, Tamron 11-14mm wide-angle lens f2.8.Inspiration
Before our trip we did a lot of research about Route 66 and all the wonderful things to see along the way. Many were of abandon towns with old cars, bikes, tractors and other things. When I saw this car it reminded me of those images and wanting to capture something similar. Also when looking through the lens at the front of the car it reminded me of something out of a horror movie.Editing
Yes. Because of the brightness of the sky and the shadows on the front of the car I had to take several images to capture all the elements. One for the sky, one for the background and one for the car its self. All images were processed in PS camera RAW, after processing in camera RAW and then using layer mask in PS, I still did not feel satisfied with the image. Went back to the originals and decided to do an HDR of the images using Photomatix 5.2. once the images were combined I saved the images as a TIF file and reopened in PS camera RAW to add a little clarity and de-noise, the outcome is the image you see here.In my camera bag
The first thing to go in my bad is my Tamron 11-14mm f2.8 lens, this lens is my favorite for taking landscape, buildings and cars to capture the details. Next is my Canon 70-300mm which is a great all around lens for me. I also ensure I have ND 10 filter along with a circular polarizer. Last but not least my Canon 80D.Feedback
Don't give up on the shot and try it from different angles you will be surprised at what you my get. Time of day does make a difference in the way your images will come out so planning is key, however there will be times you will just have to take your chances.
