Location
I took this photo in my backyard. For this kind of images it's one of my favorite places. It is really dark by night and there is enough space to take complete dark backgrounds without a real backdrop.Time
Since the photo was made outside it had to be really dark therefore we had to wait until after 9.30pmLighting
I try to keep the lighting as simple as possible. Since I use flashguns it's not easy to know exactly where the shadows will be and so I start with a single diffused light place it and move it until it is right and then I add the next. In this case I used two speedlights in a stripbox. Black cardbord helped reduce the lightspill on the right side of the image.Equipment
I used my trusty canon 7d with the Canon Efs 18-135 is on a manfrotto tripod. As lightsources I use Yongnuo flashguns (yn-568ii) and the Yongnuo yn622 trigger system.Inspiration
It is a simple exercise in nude photography. I never did it before and was curious to do a series of images that show the beauty of the human body but with the maximum respect for the subjects. After the first few images I understood that nudity has not to be explicit but it is really powerful to show the perfect imperfections that make us unique and beautiful.Editing
Post-processing involved the conversion to black and white, split-toning, contrast finetuning and some work on the skin.In my camera bag
In my bag is the canon 7d with the efs 18-135 and a 50mmf1.8 lens. Also I carry my flashguns and triggers and a few filters like a variable nd and a polarization filter.Feedback
Since there is nudity involved there has to be the maximum respect for the model. Do not touch! Find a way to make the model comfortable and make her/him trust your intentions. It is not really difficult to get this kind of images but it is easy to get the same thing that many others did before, so be creative with the poses and with the lighting. Be precise and don't stop before you got the shot.
