Caught this eerie image in the walled city of San Gimignano, Italy late at night when he appeared out of the misty darkness. His shadowed cast by the lights strangely resembles a Vampire bat hanging upside down.

Location
I captured this photo in the medieval walled city of San Gimignano, Italy.Time
It was late in the evening, around 11.30pm.Lighting
The lighting couldn't have been more perfect. I dislike using a flash and try to avoid them and use the light around me and the streets lights achieved this brilliantly for this image. I use the night mode on my camera which is a great function, it takes several shots then stacks them together in camera to allow for great low light photography.Equipment
For this shot I used a Sony alpha 99 and 16-35mm f/2.8 Carl Zeiss lens.Inspiration
After a long day traveling around Tuscany and finally arriving at San Gimignano well after dark we couldn't help but notice what a great place it would be for movie scenes etc and we were jokingly talking about Count Dracula appearing from the mist, funnily enough later that evening when we went out to find a place to grab a drink and were sitting outside chatting around 11.30pm admiring the quiet and beautiful effect as the mist rolled through the cobble stone passages a dark shadowy figure appeared which I grabbed the opportunity to capture and the result is in the photo.Editing
I used Adobe Lightroom to correct noise. In my camera bag
I mainly do travel photography and try to keep it at a minimum weight because being on the go carting backpacks and camera packs can be taxing on the body. I only carry one body (alpha99) lenses I use -16-35mm f/2.8 Carl Zeiss - 24-70mm f/2.8 Carl Zeiss - Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G2 MeFOTO RoadTrip Travel Tripod which are great for travel. Lightning Trigger, not just for lightning but is great for time lapse and many other uses. ND filters, spare camera batteries, cleaning kit etc edit: Now working with Sony a7r-II - So far I would consider this to be one of the best travel photography cameras on the market.Feedback
For shots like this I would suggest just to get out there and give it a go using different settings, like I stated above I dislike light from flash and try to capture whats really there and when trying to capture shadows artificial light can be more of a hindrance. Best advice I can give is "break all the rules"
