Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Vallejo, California by the waterfront.

Time

It was approximately 1pm.

Lighting

I'm very big on natural lighting. Natural lighting offers a natural glow to the subjects skin, allowing me to see their natural beauty.

Equipment

I only shoot with Olympus. This particular shot was taken with an Olympus E-520, aperture f/10, ISO 200, and exposure 1/250. I used a Telephoto Zukio Lens 40-300 with no tripod, and no flash.

Inspiration

Funny. I had no clue what sort of photo shoot I was getting myself into. While adjusting my settings, I looked up, and she was standing there half naked, made sure my settings was accurate, and took this test shot. What a great test shot rite!

Editing

I'm very big on natural beauty and making models look fake and plastic isn't ideal for me. Very lite processing: contrast, darkened the highlights and the shadows, and converted it to B&W.

In my camera bag

3 pro grade Zukio Lenses, Olympus E-330 & E-520, 4 backup batteries for the cameras, Olympus Tough Stylus TG -860, Neewer TT560 external flash, 8 rechargeable AA batteries, tripod, lens cleaner and cloth, portable Bluetooth speaker, portable charger for cell phone and speaker, and Mace lol.

Feedback

My best advice is to have fun with thy art... Don't over or under think the shot, engage the client with laughter (the more comfortable they are the better everyone performs,) play music that fits both of y'all desires (remember it takes two to tango,) never delete shots until you have properly gone over them (test shots can be a golden shot,) and HAVE FUN!
