Location
This picture was taken from one of the bridges over the Griboyedova Canal in Saint Petersburg, Russia looking along towards the Church of the Saviour on the Spilled Blood, one of the city's most outstanding landmarks.Time
It was taken at 22.04 on May 14th, 2015 when, due to the northerly latitude, it was still more or less twilight.Lighting
'Blue hour' obviously but the street lighting had been on for a while which gives that orangey glow to all the buildings which contrasts nicely with the blue sky and colourful Church.Equipment
The trusty Nikon D3100 was responsible for this shot and due to the lack of a tripod it was balanced on the railings of the bridge for a six second exposure.Inspiration
Saint Pete's is such a beautiful city it would've been almost criminal to leave without some night shots so a couple(!) of beers were consumed to while the long evening away before venturing out to some landmarks.Editing
Not a great deal of post processing to be honest - a little sharpening and a few tweaks to the colour and brought out some of the shadows a little in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Nikki, a Tamron 18-200mm lens and a Sigma 70-300mm alongside a Phottix variable ND filter.Feedback
Always be prepared to improvise something for a longer exposure shot which works so well at night.
