Location
It rains most of the time in Ireland and this photo was taken after a heavy downpour in the roof garden that I maintain and take most of my photographs in...Time
This picture was taken just after mid day and between showers.Lighting
The sky was still heavy with rain as I remember but I was eager to get shooting with my new macro lens.Equipment
I had just got a Nikon D7200 and a Sigma 105mm macro lens and was very eager to try them out.Inspiration
I had been looking at all the brilliant photographers of macro on Viewbug and I felt inspired to try to get that close. I had a lot of failures and deleted many, many photos. Really, I did not know what macro was and decided to put up a few photos to see how people on Viewbug might view them, they would be my teachers. It seemed to go ok as I received a few peer awards. That's really how I proceeded.Editing
All my photos come from the sd card and into Photoshop. All I use is a bit of brightness and contrast, moving the slider up to about 3 or 4 at the most. Sometimes I use a small bit of vibrance but not often. I find that on reds, oranges and yellows vibrance is not good as it ruins the photo. I would have used little or no vibrance on this picture. In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D7200 with the lenses that came in the box and a macro lens. I also have a D70 and don't use it much. I have a Nikon 1 V1 which I find to be a great little camera and it was through using this as my first camera that I thought that I might be able to take a decent photo...but I am an amateur and have much still to learn but I am enjoying every minute of it.Feedback
I would find this difficult to answer as I see many excellent photographers on Viewbug who's heights I could never reach. All I can say, from my own experience and how I take my photographs, is keep looking at things around you. Look deeper than usual. I kind of use the camera as my eye sometimes, looking through it at different flowers etc. until I "find a shot" that is what I call "arty". As I also paint...I shoot what I would paint.
