Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Wells-Next-The-Sea, Norfolk. United Kingdom

Time

This is one of my favourite photos, I could barely believe it's me that took it! I was just at the beach with a friend one day and am always quite observant to my surroundings, I saw the paraglider heading for the sunset and did my best to get a good shot. This was taken in the early evening as the sun was going down.

Lighting

I love sunsets and silhouettes so couldn't resist getting a snap of this, backlit by the sun!

Equipment

This was a handheld shot taken with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon zoom lens, EF 35-105mm. Probably using Auto mode.

Inspiration

It was simply a case of being in the right place at the right time and having remembered to bring my camera with me, and I'm glad I did!

Editing

This photo did have some post processing done, but back then I didn't really know what I was doing, and still don't to some extent.... I believe I will have used a website called Pixlr to edit my photos back then, usually involving colour filters mostly I think. Never anything to fancy or complicated! I turned it into more of a silhouette than it originally looked, creating this beautiful orange, yellow colour and pure black silhouettes. I love the way the light hits the trees too.

In my camera bag

These days, my camera bag always has my Canon EOS 500D, my 18-55mm kit lens, macro filters and a 50mm lens in it. Plus my charger and camera's instruction manual just in case I ever need it because I'm still learning or I might forget something.

Feedback

Just keep your eyes open, be aware of your surroundings, and once you see it, you'll know. Oh, and always remember to bring your camera with you wherever possible!
