Location
I took this picture inside St. Peter's Basilica while backpacking through Europe two summers ago. I spent 5 days total in Rome, one day specifically in the Vatican City where St. Peter's Basilica is located.Time
St. Peter's was my absolute favorite part about Rome. I remember we made it just in time for afternoon mass and we able to stay just long enough for the sun to set and the light to pass so through the glass onto the mosaic floor.Lighting
I feel as though the lighting makes a visit to St. Peter's Basilica that much more of a special and spiritual experience. Unlike any other church I've visited in Italia!Equipment
A NikonInspiration
The entire peaceful vibe of the basilica contributed to this pictures composition. I felt moved by the soft organ playing in the background as well as the dusk/twilight lighting.Editing
I'm a pretty simple freelance gal, I use vsco to edit my pictures but most of the time the edits are minimal. In my camera bag
I always travel with a camera; photography is such a simple way to express your viewpoint! Whether it's my Nikon, Sony point and shoot, waterproof Olympus or just my iPhone, I wouldn't be caught dead with out at least one by my side!Feedback
I love capturing strong contrasts between light and dark spaces. In order to keep the rich blacks and grays in your frame, focus on the light first then angle your camera down using that lighting to reference. Focusing on the shadows totally distorts and washes out the lighter parts of your subject. Experiment with it and develop your own style, that's what makes you stand out from the crowd!
