Location
The photo was takenat Giza, Egypt, a little bit distant from the Great Pyramids. It was at a kind of a stop tent, very humble.Time
It was around 7 a.m. and, for my happiness, the sun was finaly rising and warming up the cold and really windy desert. It was March 14th, 2014. It was such a windy and cold morning that I was wearing a lot of sweaters but I could swear that I would have an earache. Gladly, I didn't have.Lighting
The rising sun helped me to create a soft, warm and calm atmosphere.Equipment
To take this shot I used a Canon T5i, a 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 Canon lens and a Kenko polarizer filter. The focal length was at 18mm.Inspiration
I think the photo itself describes my inspiration. I was riding horses with a tour guide and a friend that I met in Egypt. We stopped there and I went a few steps back, when I noticed the pattern repetition (the three horses and the three pyramids), I felt it would be a good composition for a shot.Editing
I only used Lightroom 5.4 to post process it. I basically adjusted the colors, brightness, contrast and sharpness. The biggest thing - and it wasn't that big - that I've done was to remove some trash that was on the ground. In my camera bag
On my bag I normally carry my Canon T5i, two batteries, two memory cards and some lenses. I have four lenses, two form Canon and two from Sigma, for different purposes, but I try to carry only one or two, depending on what I'm going to shoot. If I don't know what I'm going to photograph or if I don't wanna take risks, I end up by carring all of the four. Beside that, some polarizer and UV filters. Depending on the subject, I carry my tripod as well. The only thing that I can't leave out of my bag is determination.Feedback
Go ride horses by the pyramids and not only you'll have an unforgetable moment, as you'll definitely have some good photos. Try to go by morning when the sun is rising, or when the sun is setting. The sun is magnificent at the desert. Beside that, my advice is to recognize important subjects and nice backgrounds, better yet if they combine with each other. And this can be done all over the globe.
