Location
My friend and I were doing a photoshoot and I asked her to lay in the kids tunnel, we were talking, very casually, trying to distract her. I was trying to get it to be very natural. Well, at the end of the story, she starts bursting out laughing and I get the MOST genuine smile and laugh I could've asked for. I think it's even better she's not staring at the camera.Time
After school, right around sunset when the lighting was softer.Lighting
The lighting was softer and through some shadowy trees in a secluded area.Equipment
I used my go to camera, Canon t3i with a 50-300mm lens. No tripod. No flash. It was being held by me, I normally wrap the strap around my arm and elbow to hold steady.Inspiration
I found this new area and I wanted to spend some time with my friend doing my favorite hobbies. It was a great time and a great way to combine my two favorite things.Editing
No other editing was done, normally I touch up the lighting a bit, but nothing else was needed. The lighting wasn't too harsh. I didn't feel like fixing "imperfections" on her face was necessary. I felt like the photo was too real to change. In my camera bag
I have a tripod, an external flash, extra batteries, 30 mm lens, battery grip, charger, 3 32GB cards, remote for shutter release, 50 mm lens, 50-300 mm lens, filter, and a macro lens. I like to be ready for any situation and any kind of day. I can switch quickly between the equipment I need and take the photo I want.Feedback
Be genuine! Don't try really hard to capture something like that. Let it be natural. Let it be real. Don't try too hard. Talk to your model. Sometimes a photo that is real and had a few issues is way better than a posed and edited photo. It's easier to connect to.
