Location
I took this photo on a summer adventure with the kids to Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch in Texas.Time
We arrived at the wildlife ranch about mid-moring during the heat of a Texas summer. I took this in bright sunlight from inside the Jeep before lunch time.Lighting
This lighting was provided by a large, hot Texas sun in the middle of summer time. There were a few clouds to create some depth to the sky. I was able to lean back into the shade of the Jeep as to not get too much light glare and balance out the shadows.Equipment
This was shot with my Nikon D3200 and a 18-55 mm lens with an ISO 100 setting.Inspiration
I was having fun capturing the memories of our summer trip to the wildlife ranch. We were able to feed the animals as we drove through the preserve. This particular zebra was very brave and forward about his requests for food. He came right up to the Jeep and would put his head inside and open wide to be fed. I wanted to capture exactly what we were seeing because it felt like it summed up the whole fun and experience of this trip. In order to get this picture I had to lean back into an awkward position while holding out some food to get him to stay still long enough to get a few good frames. In the end it was worth it.Editing
I had to crop the photo slightly because of my position a caught a little of the door frame. Other then that, all I did was increase the saturation slightly and add a little more contrast. I do not do a lot of post-processing. I'm still learning to use these programs. In my camera bag
If I am leaving my house quickly the least I take are the basics of my Nikon body, an 18-55 mm lens, and a 55-300 mm lens. I find that I can capture almost anything with these three things. In my camera pack are a few more assorted pieces of equipment and a tripod.Feedback
Always be on the look out for something unique in the ordinary. Even a simple summer family trip with the kids can turn into an opportunity not expected.
