Location
This was taken at a local botanical garden, inside a conservatory. The windows were frosted so the light was softly filtered. Made for great black and white photography.Time
I believe it was midday, but because of the frosted windows, the light was very soft.Lighting
As mentioned already, the light was soft because of some frosted windows in the conservatory. This worked well for this particular subject, but sometimes harsh, direct light looks great in black and white as well.Equipment
This was taken a long time ago. Back then I was using an Olympus E-500 camera worth kit lenses. I've since upgraded, but I really believe you can take great images with any equipment.Inspiration
I've always been a fan of black and white imagery, especially that of Ansel Adam's. Seeing the subtle change of tones in this subject had me thinking black and white.Editing
Just the conversion to black and white with subtle contrast and sharpness adjustments in post processing. In my camera bag
Currently I use a Nikon D750 and mostly my favorite, Nikon 14-24 f2.8 lens.Feedback
Soft lighting ......and subtle changes in color tones. These were all various shades of green. Differing colors may create more contrast in black and white.
