I took this photo during a trip to Oregon at a quaint little diner in a quaint little town, when we stopped for lunch, somewhere in Oregon. I am a self-taught photographer & I enjoy shooting interesting things. This little diner had that nostalgic atmosphere & I love these type of things.Time
This was taken around lunchtime when we stopped at this little town on our travels in Oregon.Lighting
There was nothing special about the lighting in this photo, except that there was some natural light & indoor lighting. I had to set the camera on a table to get a stable shot without blur since the shutterspeed was slow.Equipment
At the time of this photo I was shooting with a Nikon D300. I was using an 18-200mm lens with the focal length set at 35mm. Aperture priority, f/5.6. No flash. ISO of 1600. Slow shutter speed of 1/20 of sec., therefore I stabilized the camera on the table i was sitting at.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photo because of the nostalgic atmosphere of the diner we were eating lunch at. The whole resturant had that "HAPPY DAYS" vibe & I loved the colors of the stools along with the black & white block tiles. I love this type of thing.Editing
I probably did a little post processing but it was very little, such as balancing exposure & sharpening. In my camera bag
I now use a Nikon D750 & I normally have on hand a 50mm lens, 16-35mm lens, & my favorite lens is a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. I rarely use flash. I like to shoot in natural light as much as possible. This is my favorite camera I've ever used. I normally shoot raw & jpeg simialtaniously because this camera allows me to do that. Sometimes I do not even have to process in Lightroom. I can do simple edits without LR. That's one reason I like raw & jpeg.Feedback
My only advice for others shooting similar things is to always be on the lookout for things that attract you. I love shooting objects so I'm always on the lookout for interesting items. Just shoot anything & everything you see that interest you. Never stop looking at things around you. You can always find something no matter where you are & shoot, shoot, shoot!!!
