Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at my son's new home in Little Rock, AR. This is their dining room chandelier.

Time

The time of day this photo was taken was late evening & it was dark outside.

Lighting

The lighting for this photo was basically from the light fixture only. The class door & the darkness outside made a good backdrop. The little light reflections in the bulbs looks like Christmas lights but I think it's from the leds from each of the bulbs which made reflections of little lights.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D300 with a 50mm lens, ISO 400, F/4, 1/60 SEC.

Inspiration

I had been looking at this chandelier each visit to my son's house thinking about wanting to take a photo. That evening was just the right time. Since I love to take photos of objects, I was fascinated by the many little light reflections in the bulbs. It almost looke like Christmas lights, but it wasn't. It was the reflections of the leds in each bulb.

Editing

I did do a little bit of post processing but not enough to elaborate on. I cropped a little also.

In my camera bag

I no longer have the Nikon D300. I now use Nikon D750 & I love it so much more. It is full frame shooting & a lighter weight camera that fits my hands better. I usually use Nikon 50mm, 12-24mm for indoor real estate shooting occasionally , a 24-120mm, & lastly but not least & also my favorite is a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. It's so big & heavy but it takes awesome portraits & zoom photos. I hate looking like paparazzi when I carry this lens but the photos are so worth it.

Feedback

My only advice is to take the shot!! Take the shot again & again from different perspectives. You will never know until you go for it, even if you have to lay on your back on the dining room table.........
