I shot this in my home in the Hollywood Hills. My neighbor Lauren walked in the door, sat on the threshold, wearing handmade lingerie, that another neighbor had designed.Time
This was around 11:20 AMLighting
This is natural light, the thick white stucco doorway naturally filled Lauren in, and a white bed sheet spread out on the floor helped to kick some light back at her too.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D mark II with a canon 50mm 1.8 lens, shot wide open at 1/500sec ISO 1000, and a white bed sheet on the floorInspiration
This is just a couple of neighbors spending a Wednesday together shooting lingerie pictures for another extremely talented neighbor, that designed and hand made the bed wear. Always nice to have beauty and talent just steps away. Lauren's smile was just breath taking that I just had to grab some closeups of her, while we were just taking a break.Editing
I did a standard lightroom pass, adjusting exposure and sharpness with masking dialed up so only edges would be sharpened, and a bit of noise reduction. I then used an adjustment brush to brighten the iris of the eyes slightly and very slight teeth whitening (desaturation brush). On women's portraits I usually dial the Clarity down to -8 or so, but Lauren's skin and the soft lighting, allowed me to actually dial the clarity up to about +10. I also adjusted highlights and shadows to bring back some detail outside (the background).In my camera bag
I now have a Canon 6D and the 24-105 L series "kit lens", which I really like, theCanon EF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS USM Ultrasonic Lens, and Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM. I keep a set of extension tubes, a Rodes smart LAV (incase I need to do an interview), Phottix stone trigger set, set of Variable ND's and Circular Polarizers for each lens, and a 15 foot USB tether cable.Feedback
I think keeping an extremely relaxed set at all times is important, but especially when shooting lingerie or nudes. This kind of smile is not something someone can just flash at you, it has to happen naturally, so be ready and be relaxed, and also let others be relaxed (within reason), that are around during the set. At all times it must be fun for everyone working and not.
