Location
This photo was taken during a holiday at San Lameer, on the South Coast near Durban. We were walking along Marina Beach when I spotted this log that had been washed up onto shoreTime
It was mid-morning, as we liked to take a walk after breakfast.Lighting
There was nothing of note about the lighting, except that it may have been a bit hazy due to the wind.Equipment
Funny enough, this particular picture was taken with my Samsung S4 mini. Not my usual camera of choice, obviously! (That would be a Nikon D3000)Inspiration
I love landscape photos. And this particular piece of driftwood had a gap in between that created the perfect frame to shoot the ocean through. I like trying to get different angles, not just the usual, and this presented the perfect opportunity to play around.Editing
No post-processing.In my camera bag
My camera bag holds my Nikon D3000 camera body, along with 3 lenses - 2 automatic and one manual. A 55-200mm, a 55-300mm and a 75-300mm.Feedback
Don't be afraid to try something different. The ocean is such a favourite subject, so I always try to make it just that bit different. Seeing all the images submitted for this challenge, there are so many ways to get a striking image, using light and colour. Get up close and personal, take a step back, shoot from a totally different angle. And look for the little things that can make your picture stand out amongst the rest.
