Location
I took this photo while staying on a houseboat for a week on Lake Kariba. The trees in the water used to be a forest before they created the dam wall and flooded the area.Time
Sunset. A magical time of day on Kariba as there is nothing to obstruct the colours reflecting off the water, especially in the early winter days of May.Lighting
As this image wasn't planned, I wasn't waiting for just the right time to take this picture, I got lucky. I did take several before and after this one, but with the sun just above the horizon, it captured the light perfectly.Equipment
This is a Nikon D3000, no flash and on auto. I have only just learnt all the manual modes on my camera :)Inspiration
I love taking pictures of landscapes, and there is just something about these trees sticking up out of the water that captures the attention. In school we used to do charcoal drawings of trees to show the outlines, and this is the same, but in photo format. You can't see their detail which just makes the trees all that more dramatic, and the orange colours of the sunset are just stunning, I had no choice but to try and capture it.Editing
Although I have done some post-processing on another version of this picture, this particular one is the original. There has been absolutely no alternations made here.In my camera bag

This particular type of picture depends so much on nature and where you are. If you wait until the moment when the colours dazzle you, then that is the moment you should try and capture, so that you can share that moment with everyone else.
