Location
This photo was taken in an open area about 20 minutes outside of where I live.Time
I recall taking this photo in the later part of the morning.Lighting
The lighting was perfect on this day because it was partially cloudy. It allowed me to be able to take this shot without the blaring light of the sun.Equipment
This was a drive-by shot, and so I actually pulled over and used the car to help steady the camera. The camera I used is a Nikon D3200 with a 55-300 mm lens.Inspiration
This was my first time experiencing prairie dogs with this particular lens, and the movements these little critters made when chirping was fascinating to me. I took this image with the intention of capturing what they look like when they chirp.Editing
I used Lightroom to bring out the clarity and the natural colors. In my camera bag
Because I enjoy wildlife shots, I always carry my 55-300 mm zoom lens, the kit lens, and my two portrait lenses (35 and 50 mm). I also carry additional batteries and chargers and a mini tripod.Feedback
Be patient. Wildlife is hard to capture on your first go. Learn the habits of nature around you and keep practicing. The not so good shots provide you with some excellent practice for when you achieve the shot of a lifetime.
