Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near the eastern border of Alabama near Mentone. I remember because during this time I had been visiting some family in Rome, Georgia, and we decided to take a day trip on one of the days I visited.

Time

I remember waking up early to travel to this location. From my recollection, I believe it was mid to late morning when I took this picture.

Lighting

This was a tricky picture to capture, but I chose a long exposure to achieve the fluid-like motion of the water. The natural writing really gave me luck on my side and made it more-or-less easier to take this picture.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D3200 camera with a 55-200 mm lens. I didn’t have my tripod with me so I used some of the more leveled rocks to help steady my focus.

Inspiration

The natural view is this image was breath-taking. To take a simple picture wouldn’t have done it justice. I wanted to replicate is as close to the real thing so that I could remember it for years to come.

Editing

I try not to edit my pictures too much if I can help it. With this one, I adjusted The lighting and contrast and also the colors to help bring them out more I specifically tried to highlight my the natural blue found in the water.

In my camera bag

I carry a D3200 camera with prime lenses 35 and 55 mm. I also have an 18-55 mm lens and 55-300 mm lens.

Feedback

Be patient with yourself and the process, and if you find yourself without a tripod, adapt to what is given to you!
