This photo was shot at the gym my friend owns, Peak Human Performance.Time
This shoot took place at night, so we would have full access to they entire gym and not have to worry about getting in anyones way.Lighting
The lighting set up for this shot was a two light set up. The key light was a speed light that had a 20º grid and a CTO gel. The second light was a mono strobe. This one was a little trick I used it to create the rim light on the left side of the image, but it was also used as a fill light for the background. I did this by using a large umbrella and feathered the light on the subject to create the rim light.Equipment

I got the idea for this shot from my love for combat sports. I wanted to create a powerful image that gave off a moody vibe.Editing
My post-processing for this image started out in Lightroom; where I did some simple overall adjustments and color grading. From there I took the image into photoshop to work on any areas that required more detailed adjustments and corrections.In my camera bag
My bag always has my Canon 6D and 7D w/ battery grip, a Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 100mm 2.8 macro, Tamron 24-70 2.8, Canon 430 EXII, LumoPro LP-180, 4 PocketWizard PlusX, 3 LP-E6 battery chargers, 5 LP-E6 batteries, 1 LP-E6N battery, 4 mini to mini sync cables, 3 mini to pc sync cables, Pocket Rocket blower, 8 rechargeable AA batteries, 4 AA alkaline batteries, an intervalometer, 4 CF cards, 2 SD cards, polarizer, variable ND filter, 2 MagMod 2 grids, MagMod 2 gel kit + creative gels, MagMod MagSphere and a micro-fiber cloth. At the time I shot this Image I did not have my 6D so that, 2 LP-E6 batteries, and one battery charger were not in my bag.Feedback
I have found that when I shoot the things that I am passionate about or have an interest in I tend to get better results. So my advice to you is to photograph the things you love. I have also started to shooting some TF work as a way to get out of any creative ruts I might get in. When doing this I will take a concept the talent I am working with has and add my own style to their ideas.
